Halirou Abdoulaye, 33, formerly of Highland Park, was charged with criminal restraint and disorderly persons simple assault, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Highland Park Police Chief Richard Abrams.
At 9:10 p.m. on Aug. 24, 2020, police responded to South Second Avenue and Hill Street on a report of an assault.
An investigation by Detective Sean McGraw of the Highland Park Police Department and Detective Kevin Schroeck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office found that Abdoulaye grabbed the victim as she was walking on South Second Street and then assaulted and restrained her, according to Ciccone and Abrams.
Abdoulaye was being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court.
